School Home Support annual review
School Home Support (SHS) place trained workers in schools, usually in deprived areas, to support children and families through personal and educational problems. In autumn 2010, they commissioned me to write the bulk of the copy for their annual review.
To provide copy which communicated SHS’s key messages. The annual review had to be forthright, positive and emotive about SHS as a solution to deep social problems.
SHS wanted a striking annual review that appealed to many different audiences. The publication needed to convince head teachers and local authorities to hire SHS workers, while at the same time persuading grant-givers, corporate sponsors and individuals to donate to the charity.
I wrote most of the annual review, creating tight, creative copy and emotive case studies to persuade all SHS’s target audiences that SHS is a worthwhile organisation to invest in.
The finished annual review strongly conveys SHS’s impact on the lives of the children and families they work with. It showcases what a great organisation SHS is to work with.
