The British Lung Foundation (BLF) produces a quarterly member magazine called Breathing Space.Packed with medical features about lung disease, lifestyle articles, celebrity interviews, puzzles, the organisation’s news and the latest on developments in lung health, Breathing Space is a must-read for anyone with a lung condition.
Facing a staff shortage, the BLF commissioned me as Editor for the autumn 2011 issue.
To edit the magazine, from commissioning right through to signing the issue off for print. I worked with the BLF’s publication manager to understand the magazine’s audience and style. I then commissioned and edited medical and lifestyle features and news pieces from medical experts, BLF staff and other writers. I also worked with a designer to lay out, sub edit and proofread the issue, before taking final responsibility for signing it off for print.
An action-packed, great read for people affected by lung disease, written and laid out in the magazine’s traditional style and tone.
